What the face of the seat actually grants

Treat the credential as a budget line. It lowers the cost of using Claude on research work for a bounded term. It does not change how citations behave, who is accountable for a published claim, or which model a restricted domain may use. Eligibility, remaining seats, and the application path are the volatile parts of a finite program, so the live announcement is the document to check before anyone plans a year around a seat.

Standard is complimentary. Premium is $15 per month and is described as about five times the usage. That multiplier is usage, not capability: the same generally available lineup, the same workbench, the same safeguards. If a lab needs more headroom, it is buying more tokens on the same models, not a different Claude.

Claude Science is still the workbench the announcement points at. A seat is most useful when the work spans literature, code, data files, and figures, and when those artifacts stay inspectable. Chat remains the wrong place to hide a methods section.

What the reverse is for

Three misreadings keep attaching themselves to this program. The reverse of the card is there so they have to be said in the same breath as the price.

Mythos 5.1 / Project Glasswing is a different track. Mythos is the same underlying model as Fable 5.1 with more permissive safeguards, restricted to trusted access. Life-sciences trusted access is described as enrolling first participants. It is not bundled with a scientists-program seat, and it should not be described as generally available to researchers.

Professional biology and drug development stay blocked on Fable. Those requests route to Opus-class models. Opus 5 is the generally available research-capable model for biology and chemistry. This page states the public policy. It does not provide methods, protocols, or techniques for restricted work.

An autonomous experiment loop is a different site. A human using Claude Science on a literature corpus, a notebook, and a locked evidence table is this lane. An agent designing and executing its own experiments is Claude Scientist. The Seat does not reprint that run loop.

What to set up before the interesting prompts

Free-access programs fail in the first week: enthusiastic usage, no artifact anyone can audit six months later. If the seat is going to produce work that survives review, the scaffolding should exist before the interesting prompts start: a written question with inclusion criteria, searches run in the databases that own the bibliographic record, an evidence table Claude drafts from rather than adds to, and a notebook that records the prompt, the input set, the output, and the human decision.

None of that depends on which model is current, which is why it is worth building during a one-year term. The scientists program explainer, the literature-review workflow, and the lab notebook are the durable pages. This credential is the object you hold up when someone asks what the 10,000 seats actually are.
